Grand Opening Day December 12, 2007
The Grand Opening of Seattle’s first modern streetcar! Festivities began at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, with music, refreshments,
and opening remarks by Mayor Nickels at Westlake Hub. The mayor took the lead streetcar inaugural trip with breaking the ribbon.
The official start of passenger service began with free rides to continue for the rest of December. The streetcar route is conveniently connecting Downtown Seattle,
the Denny Triangle, and South Lake Union. In attendance were Jim Falconer build the streetcar coalition, Ed Murray State Senator, Larry Philip
and Jan Drago Council Member for City of Seattle.
